Dancing is their remedy

Just wanted to share two great music videos with you.

The first one is for Washed Out's latest single 'Belong'
which was directed by Blake Salzman.
It's totally (!) 80s trash, UNREAL!

The second one is Crystal Fighters' 'I Love London'
with a kind of punk feeling. It was directed by Martin Zähringer.
(This song is available on iTunes, check it!)

But honestly I wouldn't dare to dance like that girl, I'd probably
just get a heart attack...

And this is my pian-oh!

PS: I have nothing against Kate Nash. I just think the video is hilarious!

Life Of Leisure

I recently discovered a one-man project
called Washed Out by young American Ernest Greene and
downloaded the latest(?!) EP 'Life Of Leisure'
It has a dreamy, lo-fi synth sound which gets me in a summery mood.

If anyone finds a way to get his stuff physically, please tell me. (The store on the homepage won't ship anywhere except to the US)

Albums To Aniticipate 2010

The Golden Filter, Chew Lips, Fan Death, Marina & The Diamonds, (Matt Van Schie)

This year has been full of new exciting pop music and I discovered great bands over the last 12 months I don't wanna miss anymore. My biggest icon, Roisin Murphy, has been a bit quiet since she knew she was pregnant with her little baby girl called Clodagh. But she's gonna be back soon, I hope.

Unicorn - promising perfect pop times

Next month i'm gonna hold a signed copy of 'Unicorn' in my hands.
That's the title of techno-pop band CHEW LiPS' debut album,
being released Jan 25th. It doesn't include their first singles
Solo or Salt Air but promises 10 exciting tracks:

1. Eight
2. Play Together
3. Slick
4. Karen
5. Too Much Talking
6. Toro
7. Seven
8. Two Hands
9. Gold Key
10. Piano Song

'Salt Air' was a real banger this summer, so the album must be a pretty good selection. Personally, I only know 'Slick', 'Seven' (the free album giveaways) and of course their brand new single 'Play Together' that you can listen to (and watch) below.

There is pretty much every album track or a least a demo version of them on youtube but I prefer listening to the polished HQ-versions on CD.

NME has already posted a first-listen-review and they haven't got anything negative to say - they better be right. I have big hopes for a pop album that doesn't lack originality or edge just to please the masses and the record companies. We had too many of them in 2009...

PS: The first 50 people to preorder the album at recordstore.co.uk will get a hand-signed copy. Maybe they still have a few.

Space and the woods still know who she is...

Covering successful songs as b-sides must be some kind of trend: for her latest single 'Mowgli's Road', Marina and the Diamonds had recorded her very own version of 'Space and the Woods' by british indie/electronic band Late Of The Pier.

Marina's version is much faster and more aggressive than the original. Some kids said she sounds like Nina Hagen on that track.
C'mon people, what did you expect? Marina is a little rock'n'roll chick so that brash sound didn't surprise me at all.
But judge on your own:

Btw, did I mention I got one of those 200 hand-signed vinyl records by Marina?

The Golden Filter - The Hardest Button To Button

We had all waited for that refreshing new single 'Thunderbird' to be released on Nov 16th.
The digital EP comes along with a radio edit, a dub and the VillA Remix. You can download it on iTunes.

The ones who got their vinyl copy from the dummy label were rewarded with a cover version of
The White Stripes' 'The Hardest Button To Button'.
I digitalized it today since i finally got a new needle for my record player.
It's pretty scratchy at the beginning but I hope you can still enjoy it.
